Our client is one of the leading banks in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), specialising in corporate, consumer, Islamic and investment banking in the GCC.

As part of the banks ambitious growth plans, they are looking to appoint a new Global Head of Private Banking with responsibility for the launch and development of their business operations in the Far East, Europe and The Americas.

They will have full managerial, budgetary and strategic responsibility for taking the business from an essentially embryonic stage to a level where it is seen as a recognised international brand.

The business currently has a huge, largely untapped network of exceptionally HNW clients. This person will occupy a high profile management and leadership position both within the team and the bank as a whole so must posses a high degree of gravitas and experience at board level. Prior experience of having built a private banking business in the Middle East, or any emerging market will be highly preferable. An affinity to the Middle East is essential for this role.

Responsibilities Include:

• To shape the strategy and direction of the private banking area business globally.
• Full management of and P&L responsibility for the private banking business.
• Overseeing an initial team of approximately 50 private banking professionals and support staff across the region and in London.
• Appoint, motivate and manage business managers reporting to them who are responsible for defined segments of the Private Banking business, holding them accountable for their performance in their respective areas of responsibility through formal and informal performance appraisal;
• Maximize the long and short term profits of Private Banking by managing and directing its business into areas of activity which are sound, profitable and consistent with Bank policies and strategies.

Experience Required:

• Ideal candidates shall have held similar positions within the investment banking, asset management or private banking markets. Their reputation and credibility will also be extremely strong.
